Endicott Raises The Bar At Quinsigamond Snake Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. – In their second regatta of the 2015 season, the Endicott crew team traveled to Quinsigamond Lake in Worcester, Mass. to compete in the Quinsigamond Snake regatta which featured crews from all across New England and New York.

With favorable racing conditions and coming off a successful race at the Lowell Textile Regatta, the women's varsity 4+ were the first down the course. Facing some challenging adjustments with a different boat this week the Women's varsity 4+ was able to build on the success from the Textile Regatta. The boat finished the day in 22:50 good enough for 13th place in a strong field of 18 boats ahead of rivals Mass. Maritime and Brandeis.

Next, the women's varsity 8 saw a mix of both Varsity and Novice rower's led by junior coxswain Amanda Wolter (Chesapeak, Va.).   Fighting through a challenging race against varsity competition, the boat found success and were able to gain a rhythm over the last 1000 meters of the race. Powering the boat from stroke to bow were sophomore Brenna Shanahan (Shelton, Conn.), seniors Kendra Czernicki (North Chelmsford, Mass.), and Erika Mercieri (Monson, Mass.) and junior Kathryn Hartong (Springfield, Ill).

The Men's 4+ boat made great strides with a strong leg drive based rhythm down the course and was led by Junior coxswain Claire McKinnon (West Roxbury, Mass.). The Gulls were powered by  Sophomore Jesse Gottesdienier (Newton Center, Mass), Freshman Addison Culupa (Jericho, V.T.), Sophomore Zackery Mogensen (Westernville, N.Y.) and Rodrigo Davies (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Head Coach Adam Conrad was most impressed with the boat's blade timing and blade heights. "They are starting to focus on building their length through the water to allow them to be more effective over the duration of the racecourse." Said Coach Conrad.

The Endicott Crew team will return to action on Saturday October 17th when they travel to Boston, Mass. For the 51st Head of The Charles Regatta.
