Baseball Falls To No. 19/24 Saint Joseph’s (Me.), 11-1

STANDISH, Maine – The Endicott baseball team lost to No. 19/24 nationally ranked Saint Joseph's (Me.) by an 11-1 score on Tuesday evening at Mahaney Diamond.

Philip LeVangie (Hanover, Mass.) picked up the win (3-0) with 2 1/3 scoreless innings out of the pen that included zero hits, no walks, and a team-high five strikeouts.

Nick Quattro (Canton, Mass.) was dealt the loss on (2-3) on four innings, two hits, five runs (all unearned), one free pass, and four strikeouts. Corbin Hyde (Lewiston, Maine) shined out of the pen for the Gulls despite the loss with three scoreless frames and a career-high seven punchouts.

Endicott jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning off a sacrifice fly to right field by Mike Kochiss (Fairfield, Conn.) that scored Nick Berno (St. Albans, Vt.), but after that it was all Saint Joseph's (Me.) as the Monks scored five runs in the third and six more in the fifth to put the game away.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Saint Joseph's (Me.) is ranked No. 19 in the American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball poll and No. 24 in the D3baseball.com poll.
  • Berno led off the game with a bunt single and advanced to third on a single by Anthony Serina (Portsmouth, R.I.) before scoring on Kochiss' sac fly.
  • The Gulls are 1-5 on the road this season.

FOR THE FOES

  • Noah McDaniel (Eliot, Maine) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. It marked the only multi-hit game by either team in the contest.
  • Travis Godbout (Portland, Maine) went 4 2/3 in the no-decision alongside three hits, one run (earned), two walks, and one strikeout.
  • The Monks have won four games in a row.

Endicott (14-13) travels to No. 29 Southern Maine on Wednesday, April 19 at 3:30 PM. Saint Joseph's (22-4) hosts Bates tomorrow at 4 PM.
