  • Martinez, Oringer, and Player of the Year Gold Headline ECAC Awards

    CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Tad Gold (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) collected his third regional Player of the Year award this spring as the former Endicott outfielder headlined the 2014 ECAC Division III New England All-Star Team and led a group of three Gulls who earned All-New England status. Gold was named ECAC New England Player of the Year and a First Team All-Star while catcher EJ Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and second baseman Harry Oringer (Dartmouth, Mass.) were placed on the Second Team.

    SEACAUCUS, N.J. –First Team All-American outfielder and D3Baseball.com Player of the Year Tad Gold (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) became the second player in Endicott baseball history to hear his name call in the Major League Baseball (MLB) amateur draft as the former Gulls standout was taken in the 35th round (1,051st overall) by the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.

    BEVERLY, Mass.- D3Baseball.com released their final 2014 national rankings over the weekend and Endicott finished ranked #23, marking their second consecutive season finishing ranked in the top 25. The Gulls also finished ranked #2 in New England according to the NEIBA DIII Coaches Poll.

    BABSON PARK, Mass. - Seniors Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) and EJ Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) will represent Endicott at the 40th Annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game as members of the College Division All-Stars who will take on top Division I New England talent. The game will be played at LaLacheur Park (Lowell, Massachusetts) on Sunday, June 1st with a 7:00 pm first pitch.

    MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Endicott senior centerfielder Tad Gold (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) and senior first baseman Brett Holmgren (Middleboro, Mass.) were honored by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on their annual ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American Teams release as Gold received his second First Team All-America nod this postseason while Holmgren appeared on the Gold Glove Team as the best defensive player in the country at his position for the second straight year.

Gold was joined by junior second baseman Harry Oringer (Dartmouth, Mass.) as a 2014 All-American with Oringer earning a spot on the Second Team.

    HARWICH, Mass. – Making their second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship Game, the #4 seeded Endicott baseball team held an early lead against #2 Southern Maine and got five shutout innings from CCC Pitcher of the Year and NEIBA All-New England First Teamer JJ Branch (Milford, Mass.) before the Huskies offense got to Branch with multiple runs in the sixth and eighth innings. Southern Maine would defeat Endicott 11-1 to capture the 2014 NCAA New England Regional title and have earned a spot in the double-elimination, national championship tournament in Appleton, Wisconsin next week.

    HARWICH, Mass. – For the second straight season, Endicott and Southern Maine will play on the final day of the NCAA Division III New England Regional Tournament as the Gulls, with a loss against them, grinded out a 7-6 victory over the Huskies to force a deciding game on Sunday, May 18th at 12:00 pm. The winner of tomorrow’s game at Whitehouse Field in Harwich will determine the New England representative in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament in Appleton, Wisconsin.

The Gulls (32-14) saw sophomore reliever Davarn Nova (Wareham, Mass.) record a four-inning save and freshman Cam Farnam (Andover, Mass.) and senior Tad Gold (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) deliver in the top of the seventh with crucial RBIs to help secure a Gulls win.

Senior catcher and designated hitter EJ Martinez (Mass.), junior second baseman Harry Oringer (Dartmouth, Mass.), and sophomore pitcher JJ Branch (Milford, Mass.) were also recognized with All-New England awards.

    HARWICH, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team has advanced in the NCAA Division III New England Tournament after the #4-seeded Gulls defeated #5 MIT 6-4 at Whitehouse Field on Wednesday morning in their first game of regional postseason action. Endicott will take on the winner of #1 Eastern Connecticut State and #8 Mitchell on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 PM.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 56-team field for the 2014 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament was released early Monday morning and Endicott (30-14), the automatic-qualifier from the CCC, has been seeded fourth in the New England bracket which begins play on Wednesday, May 14th at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, Massachusetts.

    STANDISH, Maine – In the team’s final game before the start of the NCAA Division III New England Regional Tournament, Endicott baseball (30-14) fell to the championship from the GNAC, Saint Joseph’s (Me., 28-13) by a score of 3-2 on the road. Freshman Cam Farnham (Andover, Mass.) produced a 4-for-5 day at the plate and extended his hitting streak to 16 games in the loss.

Senior’s Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) and Tad Gold (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) were both named Corvias ECAC Division III New England Players of the Week for their respected sport. Both received the honor after also collecting conference accolades yesterday.

The Gulls scored in each of the first four innings, including four in the top of the first, and got a nine-inning complete-game from freshman lefty Luke Morse (Westford, Mass.) as the region’s fifth-ranked team improved to 28-12 on the year.

    BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior catcher Chase Sullivan’s (Cumberland, R.I.) first collegiate homerun in the bottom of the fifth, a solo shot over the left field wall, proved to be the difference-maker as Endicott edged UMass Boston 8-7 at North Field on Monday afternoon in non-conference action. The Beacons trailed by four in the top of the ninth and used a three-run homerun by senior second baseman Jose Pena (Boston, Mass.) to pull within one, but Gulls senior reliever Connor McLaughlin (Clinton, Mass.) was able to close the door for his fifth save of the season.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA released their first installment of regional rankings and the Endicott baseball team found themselves ranked fourth behind #5/#6 Southern Maine, #25/#26 Eastern Connecticut State, and #24 Amherst who are all currently nationally-ranked by either the NCBWA/D3Baseball.com or Collegiate Baseball News polls.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior centerfielder Tad Gold (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) won his first CCC Player of the Week award this spring after extending his season-high hit streak to nine games with a 10-for-24 (.417) performance at the plate in a 4-3 week for the Blue and Green. Gold upped his team-high and career-high batting average 10 points to .436 over the seven-game stretch.
