Port Charlotte, FL-- Sophomore Ian Parkinson picked a good time to pitch a gem. With a record of 1-3 and a struggling offense, Parkinson took the mound and proceeded to strike out 10 in eight and two thirds innings of work, helping EC to a 5-0 victory.
Parkinson did not allow a run or the threat of one until the top of the ninth. He got stronger as the game wore on, striking out the side in the eighth.
Three innings flew by before Endicott took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Erik Fields doubled with one out and went to third on a hard smash by Greg Allain that went through the second baseman's legs. Fields then scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of second baseman. The Gulls got two more in the sixth behind three hits and a hit batsman. Brendan Tiani scored Allain (who doubled) on a fielder's choice. Steve Vidmosko then scored Kevin Donahue (who singled) when he was hit by a pitch.
The Gulls made it 5-0 in the eighth on back-to-back doubles by Allain and Donahue and another error by the Elms second baseman. Jason Newham came in for his third appearance of the trip and got the final two outs of the game to preserve the win for Parkinson.
