Shepherd Leads Gulls at Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS.- The Endicott Cross  Country teams went into this weekend looking to see improvement from all runners across the board.  When the results came in, Head Coach Michael Twomey was pleased with the outcomes and happy to see multiple runners improve on their personal bests.

On the men's side, Alex Walecka (North Dartmouth, Mass.) saw the biggest personal improvement on the men's side by taking over a minute off of his personal best.  The sophomore finished with a time of 29:04.  Freshman Daniel Marchi (Trier, Germany) was the top Endicott finisher as he completed the 8K course in 28 minutes even.  Sophomore Mitchell Renfrew (Barkhamsted, Conn.) also improved upon his personal best and finished with a time of 32:44.

"The men ran great.  All of them took significant time off of their first race which shows that their work in practice is paying off," said Coach Twomey.

On the women's side, senior Kim Shepherd (Essex, Conn.) once again led the way for the Gulls.  Shepherd finished with a personal best time of 20:05 over the 5K course.  That time helped her finish 80th out of the 293 runners.  Freshmen Erin Haynes was less than a minute behind with a time of 20:54 in her first collegiate race.

Rounding out the top 5 scorers were Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) with a time of 21:22, Jocelyn Kane (East Longmeadow, Mass.) 21:53, and freshman Grace Brigham (Montpelier, Vt.), who finished with a time of 22:02.

Both squads are now off until the Pop Crowell Invitational on September 29th at Gordon.
