Endicott Has High Hopes for 2005

Aug. 18, 2005

BEVERLY, MA -- Returning its top seven runners, the Endicott women's cross country team is poised to compete for the Commowealth Coast Conference title. The Gulls placed fifth in the conference championship last season, running four freshmen and five sophomores. Despite its youth, Endicott pulled off a stunning upset of the University of New England to capture the UNE Invitational.

Seniors Erica Spencer (Sterling, MA) and Andrea Mokray (Sandown, NH) will co-captain the 2005 Endicott team that did not lose a single runner to graduation. The hardworking duo is determined to make the Gulls a contender and Julianna Osburn (Danvers, MA) will help shoulder the burden. The sophomore made a name for herself in the CCC last season, finishing in the top 15 each of the first four races highlighted by a second place showing at the UNE Invitational.

Senior Jen Abromovitz (New Canaan, CT) hopes to best her breakout year of 2004, while head coach Sean Dunleavy expects the heart and soul of the team to be his core group of juniors Kathleen Lascellas (York, ME), Katie Fitch (Rochester, NY), Angelique Baillargeon (Exeter, NH) and Erin Barnaby (Tunbridge, VT).

The Gulls will face another tough league schedule against the likes of Gordon College (September 24, 2005) And conference powerhouse Roger Williams (October 1, 2005). On November 12, Endicott will compete against the best teams in New England, and the nation, at the NCAA New England Regional Championships at Springfield College.
