Women’s Tennis Downs Simmons, 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team wrapped up its 2018-19 season with an 8-1 non-conference victory over Simmons on Sunday afternoon at the South Campus Tennis Courts.

Endicott took two of the three doubles matches in the contest and also swept all six singles matches to conclude the academic year at 13-7 overall. Meanwhile, with the loss, the Sharks' season comes to a close at 5-13 overall.

In doubles action, the No. 1 pairing of Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) / Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) notched an 8-2 victory, while the No. 3 duo of Clare O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.) / Sarah Pertile (Edgartown, Mass.) registered an 8-4 win.

Meanwhile, in singles play, Hoover (6-3, 6-1), Hartman (6-1, 6-1), Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass.), Cameron Foley (Lynnfield, Mass.), O'Keefe (6-2, 6-2), and Emily Licciardi (Haverhill, Mass.) all collected wins for the Gulls at the No. 1-6 flights, in respective order.

McCormack's win at No. 3 came by a 6-2, 6-0 score, while Foley produced a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 4. Licciardi rounded out the list of winners with scores not mentioned above at the No. 6 position via a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 score.

"I'm happy for our women's team as their hard work is paying off," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "We had a lot of family and alumni support today as well. It was a fun atmosphere."
