BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College women's soccer team will make their fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament this weekend when they head to Schenectady, NY to take on Union College.
The Gulls captured their fourth straight Commonwealth Coast Conference title with a 2-1 win over Roger Williams on Saturday afternoon sending them to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six years.
Endicott will play first round host Union College (14-2-3) on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm. The Dutchwomen are making their seventh tournament appearance in eight years as pulled out a 2-1 double overtime win over William Smith to win the Liberty League Championship last weekend.
Union advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year with a 1-0 overtime win over Ithaca before falling to in a shootout to Rochester.
The Gulls ran into first round exists in their last two trips to the NCAA's, losing to Western Connecticut 2-1 in last year's tournament and falling to Williams, 3-1 in 2004. Endicott advanced the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2003 with a 1-0 win over Emmanuel before falling to Amherst 2-1 in overtime.
Endicott and Union did not meet this season but both teams played Hartwick College with the Dutchwomen taking a 1-0 win and the Gulls winning 4-1 over the Hawks.
EC will look all conference players Caitlin D'Amario (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow), Staci Wiencko (Pembroke, MA/Notre Dame Academy), Margreta Weber (Bedford, NH/Manchester West) and Shannon Pilsbury (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) to continue their strong play as the Gulls try to advance once again.
Worcester State (15-5-1) and Stevens Institute of Technology (15-2-3) will also play at Union at 11:00 am in the sites other first round game. With the winners meeting in a second round match up on Sunday.
Tickets for the games are available at the gate and are \$6.00 for general admission and \$3.00 for students/seniors.
