Gulls Battle Hard in 2014 Program Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's club rugby team opened up their 2014 season this past Saturday as they hosted Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Gulls tallied five points in their first game as a member of the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) despite the tough 5-18 loss. Endicott moves to 0-1 (0-1 CCRC) in their debut.

The contest marked the first full rugby match for many of the Blue and Green who faced a very tough and experienced Leopards squad. Earning the first points of the season for Endicott was senior Erica Hamilton (Bedford, Mass.) as she broke through the Wentworth line for the try in the opening minutes.

First year head coach, Bob Ryman was very impressed with his young groups' performance and is eager for their next match, saying "Overall I was very proud and pleased with their first performance."

The 2014 season is marked as the first official season for the women's rugby program. Last year the competed in one tournament and found much success, after practicing throughout the fall and spring. The Gulls are eager to get their program moving and continue to improve their skills and knowledge of the game.

Endicott will see action next as they host conference opponent Roger Williams on Sunday, September 28th at Endicott Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
