No. 9 Gulls, Wildcats Skate To 2-2 Draw

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The No. 9 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team traveled to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on Friday evening and came away with a 2-2 overtime time. 

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period, but Endicott got on the board in the second with a goal from Lauren Ferraiuolo (North Haven, Conn.)

The Gulls took a 2-0 lead in the third frame when Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) scored on a rebound. 

Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) responded for the Wildcats by scoring two goals late in the period to tie the game and send it to overtime. 

After five minutes of extra time, the contest ended in a 2-2 tie.

Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) made 15 saves and improved to 2-0-1 in net on the season.

FOR THE FOES

  • Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) made 37 saves in the loss (0-4-1).
  • Julia Martinsson (Charlottenberg, Sweden) and Hannah Tracy (Hanson, Mass.) added helpers on Johnson & Wales' goals.
  • Westgaard and Martinsson paced the team in shots with four each.

WHAT'S NEXT 

No. 9 Endicott (3-0-1, 2-0-1 CHC) and Johnson & Wales (0-4-1, 0-2-1 CHC) finish out the home-and-home series at Raymond J. Bourque Arena on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m.
