Gulls Top Crimson In Season Opener

Gulls Top Crimson In Season Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's club ice hockey team opened up their 2013-14 season at home this past Saturday afternoon. The Gulls took on the Crimson of Harvard and were able to come out on top with the 2-1 victory. Senior Jesse Bilafer (Concord, Mass.) and freshman Martha Crowley (Castleton, N.Y.) each tallied three points in the contest.

The Gulls are coming off their first season as an independent program where they went 5-7-1, while also finishing off last season with two big victories against Babson and MIT.

Junior goaltender Taylor Witham (Cumberland, Maine) earned the win for the Blue and Green while freshman MacKenzie Dutton (Andover, Mass.) and junior Gretchen St. Pierre (Colchester, Vt.) also saw time between the pipes.

Endicott came out of the gates firing giving the Crimson a lot of offensive pressure throughout the entire game. Bilafer and Crowley netted the two goals for the Gulls, while they each earned an assist on the afternoon. Also picking up an assist was sophomore Meagan Hyland (Duxbury, Mass.).

Defensively Coach Munzing could not be happier with the defensive efforts from Crowley, junior Lexi Bird (Lebanon, N.H.), and freshman's Megan Theodore (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Sierra Cummings (Colchester, Vt.)

Endicott will look ahead to Saturday, October 26th when they host UMass Lowell at 4:30.
