Gulls Finish 6th at Keene State Invitational; Led by Zach Marshall's 19th Place Finish

KEENE, N.H.-  Led by freshman Zachary Marshall (Hinesburg, Vt.), the Endicott men's cross country team finished 6th out of 12 teams at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday.  Marshall's 19th place finish in a time of 28:27 led the Gulls as all five runners to record a score finished in the top 40 out of 127 racers.  Endicott has now finished in the top six in three of four races on the season as Marshall has been the top runner in each race.  The Gulls are now off until the 17th when they travel to Boston to compete in the Saints Invitational, hosted by Emmanuel.

Marshall crossed the 8k course in a time of 28:27, less than two minutes off the first place pace, giving the Gulls 17 ppints.  Close behind Marshall was sophomore Noah Mondello (Gloucester, Mass.) who finished with a time of 29:17 and in 28th place for 26 points.  Just 10 seconds behind Mondello was freshman James Dwyer (Berlin, Conn.) who finished in 31st place with a time of 29:27 for 29 points.  Senior Alex Walecka (North Dartmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Kidder Spillane (Shelburne, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for the Gulls, finishing in 37th and 39th respectively.  Walecka posted a time of 29:53 as Spillane crossed in a time of 29:56, earning 32 and 33 points.

For the women, senior Erin Haynes (Oakham, Mass.) once again led the way, finishing in 12th place out of 156 runners and earning 11 points.  Her 12th place finish came via a 19:37 time on the 5k course, just 50 seconds off the first place time.  Haynes has now finished as the top runner in every race for the Gulls.  

Finishing second for Endicott and in 36th place overall was sophomore Kiera Malone (Woburn, Mass.).  Malone's 36th place netted 29 points for the team as she finished in a time of 20:56, her best time of the 2014 season.  Senior Jocelyn Kane (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished in a time of 21:14, giving her 43rd overall and 32 points.  Just two seconds off Kane's time was Grace Brigham (Montpelier, Vt.) who earned 34 points for the team by finishing in 45th place in 21:16.  Rounding out the scoring for the Gulls was junior Holly Rigioli (Waltham, Mass.) who crossed in 53rd place with a time of 21:46.  The finish gave her 38 points to give Endicott at team score of 144, 96 points ahead of the nearest competitor. 

The Gulls are now off until the 17th when they travel to Boston to compete in the Saints Invitational, hosted by Emmanuel.  As it is a Friday race, start time is set for 4:00 p.m. for the women and 4:45 p.m. for the men.
