Mondello Receives Weekly CCC Honors for Performance at CCC Championship

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- After being named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Male Cross Country Rookie of the Year, Endicott freshman Noah Mondello (Gloucester, Mass.) followed that performance up in style by earning CCC Rookie of the Week honors.  Mondello led the Gulls to a sixth place finish at the CCC Championship and is now readying for the ECAC Championship to be held on Saturday, November 9 at noon.

Mondello was the top finisher for the Gulls and the top freshman finisher at the CCC Championship meet this past weekend.  The Gloucester native was able to post a personal best 8k time of 26:41.2 while earning third place honors out of 98 runners.  His time was over 33 seconds faster than the closest rookie, giving him CCC Rookie of the Year and Week honors by a wide margin.  This is the first Rookie of the Year award for the men's program in over 10 years.

Mondello and other Gulls now turn their focus towards the ECAC Championships to be held in Bristol, R.I. at Colt State Park on Saturday at noon.  The ECAC Championships will be followed by the NCAA New England Regional in Gorham, Maine at the Narragansett School one week after that.
