Men’s Tennis Claims Pivotal Win Over Roger Williams, 6-3

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Roger Williams University (RWU) for the first time since 2002 by a 6-3 score on Wednesday evening at the RWU tennis courts.

Endicott's victory over the Hawks also created a three-way tie in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) standings as the Gulls, Roger Williams, and Gordon all wrapped up regular season play today with identical 4-3 league records.

To determine the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 seeds for this weekend's quarterfinal round of the CCC Tournament, the No. 3 seed was decided by a coin flip, while the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds were determined by head-to-head records of the two remaining teams. Endicott finished as the No. 5 seed headed into postseason action this weekend per the league's tie-breaking procedures.

Meanwhile, as for the match, Endicott claimed a 2-1 advantage in doubles with wins at the No. 1 (8-6) and No. 2 (8-4) slots behind the pairings of Cooper Walters (Madeira Beach, Fla.) / Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) and Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.) / Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.).

The Gulls then saw Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) earn a victory by forfeit at No. 2 singles (1-6, 3-0), Toler make it 4-3 at No. 6 with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 triumph, and Rinkert clinch the match at No. 1 (7-5, 6-4).
