Rob Matey enters his first year as an assistant coach with the Endicott football program in 2018. Matey will serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

In his first season as offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach, Matey guided Endicott to league-best marks in passing yards (2,642), passing yards per game (240.2), passing touchdowns (29) and red zone percentage (86%). Additionally, the Gulls finished second in the conference in points (391), points per game (35.5), total offense (4,771), yards per game (433.7), rushing yards (2,129), rushing yards per game (193.5), and rushing touchdowns (19). 

Under Matey's guidance, Endiott also saw nine student-athletes on offense earn All-Conference accolades.

Matey joined the Endicott staff after coaching this past season at Oberlin College. During his tenure at Oberlin as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, Matey’s offense shined as the program compiled 247 points in 2017, which is fourth all-time in program history. The Yeomen also racked up 3,730 total yards, which ranks third all-time in the 127-year history of the Oberlin football program. Along with those team accolades, his student-athletes on the offensive side of the ball also set numerous program records during his one year as offensive coordinator.

Prior to Oberlin, Matey coached at Assumption College (quarterbacks) and Johns Hopkins (defensive line).

A 2014 graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health, Matey was a four-year student-athlete and quarterback for the Blue Jays' football program. During his time with the team, Matey guided the program to a 22-3 record (.880), while, individually, Matey was the first student-athlete in program history to throw for 5,000 yards and rush for 500 yards. Matey also ended his career as the active leader in completion percentage for all NCAA Division levels and graduated from the program with the best winning percentage and completion percentages in program history.

After his collegiate playing career ended, Matey went on to play for Finland's Hyvinkaa Falcons. As a quarterback, Matey led the Falcons to Finland's Division I championship game and was voted the game's MVP.
