Equestrian Places Three Riders In Zone Finals

HANOVER, Mass. — The Endicott equestrian team competed at Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Regionals on Saturday evening, having three riders move onto zone finals.

The Gulls were awarded the reserve champion ribbon for being the second overall Highpoint team for the year in Region 4. This is the first time the team has ever earned regional reserve champion honors.

The last time Endicott produced an overall year reserve champion was in 2011 in Region 2.

TOP QUOTE

"We had a wonderful day at regionals today! It was a beautiful show with some really terrific rides from our Gulls, and three of our six riders are moving on to Zone Finals, which is impressive. I think our riders headed to Mt. Holyoke (for Zones) next weekend have a really good shot at qualifying for nationals and I know they'll be working hard to make it happen," said Endicott equestrian head coach Megan Martin. "I am especially excited that we have multiple riders qualified for Zone Finals three years in a row now, and I think it shows how strong the team is and how much effort they've put in!"

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sophia Channell (Vergennes, Vt.) was first in intermediate flat and moved on to zone finals. She finished seventh overall in the Cachionne riding standings for the year.
