BEVERLY, Mass. – At Endicott College, a student's first-year internship lays the foundation for future success. It either reinforces early career decisions or creates a new path of thinking about life after graduation. In essence, it gets undergraduate students thinking about their future right from the start, putting them a step ahead of their competition.
During the winter season, Endicott equestrian student-athletes Amy Couture (Morris, Conn.) and Tessa LeBlanc (Harwich, Mass.) completed their first-year internships. Couture and LeBlanc gained valuable experiences through their first-year internships and offered up their perspectives to ECGulls.com.

First-year Internship: Frontline Productions
Describe your overall experience at your internship.
My overall experience at Frontline Productions was amazing. Everyone was so welcoming and kind towards me. They were so willing to help me in any way and always answered my questions as much as they could. I learned so much at Frontline that I am able to take with me.
Did your perspective on your chosen career path / major change? Do you want to further pursue this career path / major or do you think you might want to try a different area of your major or switch all together?
My perspective on my career did not change. Going into this internship I knew I wanted to work in the movie or television industry. Frontline Productions makes corporate videos and after doing an internship there, it made me realize I don't fully enjoy making corporate videos.
What was the biggest lesson you learned from your first internship?
The biggest lesson I learned from my internship was to always be ready for things to go wrong. As part of my internship, I got to create a video of anything I wanted. I chose to make that video on Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a non-profit organization. During the last week of my internship, I was going to film interviews with people at Guiding Eyes, but due to snow, I wasn't able to. I had to problem solve and come up with another way to get information into my video.
What advice would you give to future students on picking their first internship?
Was your internship what you expected? If it was or wasn't how so?

First-year Internship: Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island
Describe your overall experience at your internship.
My experience at Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island was more than I could have ever hoped for! Throughout my short time with the organization, I did such meaningful work and formed close connections with my co-workers! I had an amazing three weeks learning the ropes of the organization while helping with certain aspects of wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses!

What was the biggest lesson you learned from your first internship?
The biggest lesson I learned from my time with this organization was how to work in an office setting. This was not something that I had not had the opportunity to do, so it was a new experience for me.
