Dance Team Ready To Compete At Nationals

Dance Team Ready To Compete At Nationals

The Endicott dance team has departed for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. to compete in the Universal Dance Association (UDA) Dance Team National Championships.  The competition will run from January 18th through the 20th and will see the Gulls be pitted against 27 other teams all vying for the UDA title.  The Gulls will compete in the Open Division which is comprised of Division II and III schools as well as NAIA and Junior College institutions.

Endicott will be competing in two divisions; jazz and pom.  Both categories are judged on choreography, technique, group execution and overall effect.  The team was able to get one last rehearsal in before a live audience as the squad performed for students and staff in the Field House on Wednesday afternoon.  The team performed their jazz routine first and finished with their pom routine (Please click the following links for film of their rehearsal:  Jazz, Pom).

Coach Nicole Sao Pedro-Welch was enthusiastic about the upcoming opportunity and said that the team is looking to create a bit of Endicott history on their trip and hopefully come home with some hardware.  The Gulls are definitely off to a good start as the team scored a perfect 15/15 on the "Spirit Tape" score.

If you would like to watch the performance via a live stream, the feed is available for purchase here: Live Feed.  For a schedule of the performances, please follow this link:  Schedule.
