BEVERLY, Mass. – Former Endicott football graduate assistant Ryan Barrett '18 (Holliston, Mass.) has been named a Development Coordinator at Johns Hopkins University. Barrett's duties with the Blue Jays Unlimited Club, the fundraising arm for Johns Hopkins athletics, will include philanthropic engagement with alumni, parents, and friends who are affiliated with the university.

Barrett, who graduated from Endicott with a Master's of Education in Athletic Administration through the Van Loan School, spent two years as a graduate assistant/receivers coach with the Gulls' football program from 2016-18. Barrett was responsible for the team's recruiting efforts in MetroWest Massachusetts, Vermont, Upstate New York and other areas as assigned.

During his time at Endicott, Barrett also worked with the Gull Club, where he aided the athletic fundraising branch of the Institutional Advancement Office in promotions, marketing, and outreach for the Forever A Gull Challenge, Alumni Athlete Event, and the Gull Club Golf Challenge under the direction of Ashley McKenelley, Endicott's Assistant Director of Athletic Giving.

Upon graduation, Barrett had spent the past few months interning in the Athletic Development office at his alma mater, Bryant University, where he helped develop solicitation strategies for their Black & Gold Club and worked on their athletic events committee before landing his new position at Johns Hopkins.

"As you know there is no cookie-cutter, specific way to get your foot in the door of athletic administration, but throughout my time at Endicott studying the field of collegiate athletics and having the opportunity to touch almost all facets of the department, I was adamant on going down the development route," said Barrett. "As an aspiring athletic director (AD), I realized that the landscape of college athletics has drastically changed in recent years as more and more AD's are beginning their careers in development since generating funds for a department is so crucial."

Barrett continued.

"As a member of the Blue Jays Unlimited Club, the fundraising arm of Hopkins Athletics, my role focuses on philanthropic engagement with alumni, parents, and friends who are affiliated with Johns Hopkins Athletics. My team and I are responsible for reaching and exceeding annual targets and strengthening the support with all constituents in order to enhance the betterment of the student-athlete experience."
