The new assistant coach of the Gulls program in 2012 will be Peter Simonini.  He comes to Endicott as a very highly regarded coach in the New England area.  Simonini brings with him an impressive coaching history which has spanned 25 years and various levels.

Prior to Endicott, Simonini served as the assistant coach at Division I Bryant University from 2009-11 where he helped with the transition of moving from DII to DI.  His other DII stints came as an assistant at UMass Lowell in 2008 and as the head coach of Bentley University from 1987-2007.  During his 21 seasons at the helm, Bentley finished with an overall record of 194-179-20 (.519). Throughout this time the accolades began to accumulate.  Simonini was named the Massachusetts College Coach of the Year (1992), the Northeast 10 Coach of the Year (1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 2004), the New England DII Coach of the Year (1992, 1993, 2004), MSCAA Coach of the Year (1993) and was elected into the New England Soccer Hall of Fame in 1999.

Coach Simonini has also worked with a professional team and multiple clubs.  His professional coaching experiences came with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer where he served as a Special Assistant: Goalkeepers Talent Evaluator and with the Boston Bulldogs of the A-League where he was the assistant coach.  For his club experience, Simonini most recently served as the Assistant Director of Coaching for Lexington United Soccer Club.  He has also coached the Inter Bandits Soccer Club as an assistant, the Nashua World Cup Soccer Club as the Coaching Director and spent three years as the coach of Weston High School.

Prior to beginning his coaching career, Peter Simonini had a stellar playing career.  A 1980 graduate of Plymouth State College with a BS in Physical Education and a minor in Business, Simonini was a two time All-American (1979, 1980), Soccer Senior Bowl East Representative (1980), First Team All-New England (1978, 1979, 1980) and he graduated as the NCAA Record Holder for the most career shutouts at the time (1980).  Following his college graduation, he went on to play professionally.  Simonini was a first round draft pick of the New England Tea Men of the American Soccer League where he played from 1979-81.  Following that stint he went on to play for the Jacksonville Tea Men, also of the American Soccer League, from 1981-84.  During this time, he was named Most Valuable Player and Leading Goal Keeper of the American Soccer League in 1983.  His professional playing career ended with a two year stop as the goal keeper for the Dallas Sidekicks of Major League Soccer.
