BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott football head coach Paul McGonagle has announced changes to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2019 season.
Todd Parsons will take over as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and Tyler Armillay will serve as the program's offensive line coach.
Meanwhile, Andrew Nevit will assume defensive line duties replacing former defensive line coach Jack Dustin who was promoted to be Endicott's first-ever full-time strength and conditioning coach on June 4, 2019. Dustin will still work with the football program on the strength and conditioning side throughout the academic year.
Other additions to the staff include former Rutgers University staff member Matthew Popino (linebackers), Alexander Valles (wide receivers), and Kendall Dardy-Jones (assistant defensive backs).
"I'm excited to have these coaches join our staff and the Endicott Community," said McGonagle. "They all bring different aspects to the football program that will aid us in developing a championship program and also have a lot of familiarity with our conference."
Along with the additions, Sean Golden (defensive coordinator/secondary), Bob Holmes (defensive backs), Cory Gaff (running backs), Jarrod Casey (safeties) and Tad Beauchert (kickers/punters) will return for the 2019 season.
MEET THE ENDICOTT COACHING STAFF
TODD PARSONS | OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR/QUARTERBACKS
Prior to arriving at Endicott, Parsons held the same role at NCAA Division II Bentley University for the 2018 season.
His previous coaching stops also include Brown University (Pass Game Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach, 2014-17), Assumption College (Special Teams Coordinator / Wide Receivers Coach, 2013-14), Salve Regina University (Offensive Coordinator / Recruiting Coordinator, 2010-13), and McDaniel College (Graduate Assistant / Quarterbacks / Running Backs, 2007-2010).
Parsons is a 2007 graduate of Averett University where he obtained his Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education and Wellness with a minor in Coaching. As a quarterback for the Cougars, Parsons was a two-time All-Conference selection, an Academic All-Conference honoree and a captain of the program. Parsons, who guided Averett to a conference championship in 2006, still ranks first overall in the following categories: career passing touchdowns (42), most touchdowns responsible for in a career (46), and total offense in a career (4,848 yards). Parsons also is first for most passing touchdowns in a single season with 18 (2005) and most touchdowns responsible for in a single campaign (21). Meanwhile, his 4,662 passing yards ranks and 129.8 passing efficiency rating rank second all-time for a career.
Following his time at Averett, Parsons went on to complete his Masters of Science in Sports Administration from McDaniel College from 2007-08.
Parsons has been an American Coaches Football Association (AFCA) member since 2007 and most recently spoke at the 2018 AFCA Convention.
TYLER ARMILLAY | OFFENSIVE LINE
Armillay graduated from Assumption College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
He was a four-year starter as an offensive lineman for the Assumption football team and earned several accolades such as Second Team NE10, Third Team All-Region by Don Hansen, and All-Area First Team by the Worcester Area Football Association.
Armillay was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during his time at Assumption.
ANDREW NEVIT | DEFENSIVE LINE
Nevit comes to Endicott with a bevy of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels. Most recently, Nevit served as the recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach at Western Connecticut State University. While with the Colonials, who went 8-2 in 2018, Nevit coordinated the PAT/FG block team, assisted with film breakdown, game plan, and playbook installation, and assisted with all aspects of recruiting including his own territory of Long Island, New York.
Nevit's other coaching stops include King's College (2016-18), East Stroudsburg University (2015-16), and Bishop McGann Mercy High School (2014-15). At all three stops, Nevit worked with following positional groups defensive line, running backs, h-backs, offensive line, tight ends, in addition to his responsibilities as the co-video coordinator at King's College and the junior varsity assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Bishop McGann Mercy.
Nevit is a 2014 graduate of Anna Maria College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Health Science. He went on to earn his M.S. in Health Education from East Stroudsburg in 2017.
MATTHEW POPINO | LINEBACKERS
Popino joins the Endicott staff after a three-year coaching stint at Rutgers University where he rapidly rose through the ranks of the program serving in four different positions (defensive intern, player development, defensive quality control - linebackers, defensive line graduate assistant) during his time in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
In his role as the defensive quality control - linebackers coach, Popino assisted the linebackers coach in weekly game planning, scouting reports, scripting practices, and recruiting. He also assisted the defense in weekly breakdowns, charting plays, and drawing cards while creating reports with Pro Football Focus to find opponent tendencies.
Meanwhile, Popino's other coaching experiences include Fitchburg State University - where he served as the linebackers coach, video coordinator, and academic coordinator from 2015-16 - and Worcester State University for two years from 2013-15 (assistant defensive backs coach). Popino also played at Worcester State University for two seasons as a tight end, guard, and center, and graduated from the university in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
He is currently pursuing his Masters of Science in Applied Communications from Fitchburg State University.
ALEXANDER VALLES | WIDE RECEIVERS
Valles comes to Endicott after a standout four-year career at Georgetown University (2014-18). While at Georgetown, Valles played in 37 career games and compiled 1,043 all-purpose yards alongside five rushing touchdowns. During his senior campaign, Valles rushed for a team-high 462 yards and three touchdowns on 104 carries. He also earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll accolades twice during his career and was selected to the program's leadership council to help communicate concerns and issues that may prevent the team from reaching its goals.
He also served as a member of the Georgetown Sports Analytics Business and Research Group which held meetings to educate students about career, internship, and education opportunities in sports as well as analytics. In addition to those responsibilities, the Georgetown Sports Analytics Business and Research Group collaborated with other programs at the university to help them engage in sports research using team stats, analytics, and sabermetrics.
Meanwhile, Valles' coaching experience includes a four-year stint as an assistant coach with the organization called Coach Up in Boston, Massachusetts. While with Coach Up, Valles helped several players reach their full potential and aided them in the scouting process for the collegiate level. He also evaluated players, and their recruiting tapes, to help match them with suitable college football programs.
Along with his duties with the Endicott football program, Valles currently works at the New England Sports Network (NESN) where he serves as a Boston Red Sox broadcast associate.
Valles, who was a standout student-athlete at nearby Danvers High School, received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in sociology from Georgetown in 2018 and is currently pursuing his M.S. in Sports Administration from the Woods College of Advancing Studies at Boston College.
KENDALL DARDY-JONES
Dardy-Jones comes to Endicott after a standout four-year career at Assumption College. Dardy-Jones played in 37 career games, amassed 126 tackles (80 solo, 46 assisted), forced three fumbles, recovered one fumble, intercepted three passes and had 12 pass breakups as a defensive back. He also served as team captain in 2015 where the Greyhounds won their first league championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Assumption's 51-29 win over Bowie State in the NCAA Tournament First Round was the first-ever NCAA victory in program history as well.
Alongside his work with the Endicott football program, Dardy-Jones serves as an ABA Instructor at the Center for Applied Behavioral Instruction in Worcester, Mass. He also has worked as an ABA Therapist at Behavioral Concepts, Inc. and a Developmental Specialist Intern at Thom Boston Metro.
Dardy-Jones is an active volunteer in the community as he has completed volunteer hours at Nelson Place Elementary, UMass Memorial Hospital, and Rosie's Place Boston.
Dardy-Jones graduated from Assumption College in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services.
