Why Endicott? Why Division III?

I chose Endicott because of the education and internship experiences. I also chose Endicott because of the traditions and values that the Endicott athletics program has and I wanted to contribute and continue to the success of the Gulls.

Career Summary

2015: Team captain... appeared in four games... completed 16 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown

2014: Played in five games... registered two tackles (one solo, one assist)

2013: Appeared in seven games... had a passing efficieny rating of 55.2

Professional Aspirations

To start a family and be a high school chemistry and anatomy teacher in the New England area while, keeping my passion for football and basketball alive as a coach... performed an internship with Mr. Rob Ward at Georgia Elementary and Middle School in an 8th grade science class in January of 2014... was responsible for observing teaching styles and implementing them into his own teaching style in one-on-one and whole class teaching situations... in January of 2015 he completed an internship with Bryan Hirschman at Essex High School in advanced and conceptual chemistry classes... worked with Mr. Hirschman to teach lessons, work in one-on-one environments and also develop test questions and answer keys to subject matter tests

Joe on his experience with Mr. Hirschman:

"My internship with Bryan Hirschman opened my eyes to realize that I would love to be a high school chemistry teacher. I loved the aspect of teaching content from one concentration of science and the curriculum content is and has always been my favorite subject to learn and teach. I also love the idea of working with older students and helping them expand their learning horizons to areas they have never been able to reach before."

Community Service

At Endicott, participated in the Relay for Life in the spring of 2015 and helped raised over $10,000... participated in the Color Run at in the spring of 2015... in high school, member of the Positive Youth Sports Alliance where he worked to ensure that all the youth in his community had great coaches and experiences with the sports they participated in... member of the Athletic Leadership Counsel at Essex High School and worked to ensure that Essex had a strong athletic and academic community where everyone could succeed... member of the Brain Stem group in his chapter of the National Honor Society where his group created a tutoring program for anyone that needed help in any subject at my high school... member of the Big Little Program and visited a third grade boy once a week and played games and helped him with his homework... boccie coach on his school's Unified Sports Team which partners with Special Olympics... his team won a gold medal at the state tournament... leader in his communities Above the Influence Group that worked to educate and help the youth and peers of the community on the effects of drugs and alcohol and how to combat social pressures with healthy habits

Joe on his experience with Above the Influence Group:

As a member of my Above the Influence Group, we entered a competition through MTV and Above the Influence National for an "Un-wasted Weekend." We were one of four winners chosen across the country and I was chosen as the head person for communication between my group and MTV. We ended up hosting a lock-in event and got 250 students from my high school to come and spend twelve hours doing fun and healthy activities on a weekend. We put all of our proceeds to our school Unified Sports Team, which is partnered with Special Olympics and raised $3,000 for them. As a result, MTV filmed the whole event and we got our own commercial on MTV that captured what the whole idea behind the weekend was and why we did it

Fun Facts

His sister, Brittany, was a college rugby player and cheerleader at UNH... his brother, Adam, was a college baseball player at UMASS Amherst... his Uncle Don was a college baseball player at Lyndon State College and got drafted to play in the St. Louis Cardinals organization for a couple seasons
