Ruel Highlights All-CCC Women's Volleyball Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. — Four members of the Endicott women's volleyball team have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason honors, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) highlights the list of award winners by receiving Libero of the Year honors. 

In addition to her Libero of the Year honors, Ruel was named to the All-CCC First Team alongside Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.).

Hadley Helenbrook (Atlanta, Ga.) and Julia Giroux (Bedford, N.H.) were both selected to the All-CCC Second Team to round out the list of accolades. 


Libero of the Year | ALL-CCC FIRST-TEAM

Emma Ruel| Jr.| DS | Duxbury, Mass.

Junior Emma Ruel has been named First-Team All-CCC for the first time in her career. Ruel was named CCC Libero of the Week twice this season (10/11 and 11/6) and continued to build off a strong sophomore season. This season she set new career highs in digs (376) and assists (77) as she helped Endicott hold CCC opponents to a .166 percentage this season. The junior recorded double-digit digs in 21 of her 27 matches played including setting a new career high with 26 in the 3-1 win over WPI. In just five matches in November, Ruel compiled 4.38 digs/set helping the team go 4-1 and reach the CCC Championship match.

This is Ruel's first career Libero of the Year honor and second All-Conference Honor (2022, Second team).


ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

Krystina Schueler | Gr. | RS | Trumbull, Conn.

Graduate Student Krystina Schueler has been named First-Team All-CC for the first time in her career. The graduate student set new career highs in kills (266), kills/set (2.66), hitting percentage (.292), and points (298.5), as she was named CCC Player of the Week on 10/11. At the front of the net, Schueler recorded 62 total blocks as the Gulls recorded 164 throughout the season and held opponents to a .207 this season. In a big comeback win over conference opponent, Roger Williams, the Trumbull, Conn. native set a new career high with 21 kills with a .349 hitting percentage and had six total blocks in the match. Schueler was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region team.

This is Schueler's second All-Conference Honor (2022, Third team).


ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

Hadley Helenbrook | Fr. | OH | Atlanta, Ga.

Freshman Hadley Helenbrook has been named Second-Team All-CCC for the first time in her career. The freshman was all over the court for the Gulls as she led the team in kills (276) and points (335) while being named CCC Rookie of the Week three times (9/11, 10/3, and 10/17). Helenbrook produced 2.88 kills/set and in conference play hit .244. Finished second on the team with 238 digs (2.48 per set) while at the front of the net had 34 total blocks (.35 per set). At the service line, was second with 39 aces (.41 aces/set). Finished the season with five consecutive double-doubles (kills-digs) including 13 kills and 14 digs in CCC Semifinal victory over Western New England. She was also named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Honorable Mention.


Julia Giroux | So. | OH | Bedford, N.H.

Sophomore Julia Giroux has earned Second-Team All-CCC for the first time in her career. Giroux was an offensive threat for the Gulls as she led the team with 2.99 kills/set (233 total). The sophomore had 139 digs this season and was third on the team with 1.78 digs/set. She had 22 total blocks on the season including a season-high three in Endicott's CCC First Round victory over University of New England. Tied a season-high 19 kills three times throughout the season including a big five-set win over CCC opponent Suffolk. Recorded double-digit kills in 13 of 23 matches played. Had her fourth double-double (kills-digs) in the Gulls CCC semifinal victory over Western New England with 14 kills and 12 digs.

This is Giroux's first All-Conference honor.
