Women's Volleyball Downs WNE In CCC Semis, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass.  — The Endicott women's volleyball team knocked off Western New England University in four sets, 25-11, 25-9, 21-25, 25-18, to secure a berth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship this Saturday.

Three Gulls paced the attack in the contest with double-digit kills as Julia Giroux (Bedford N.H.) led the way with a double-double, 14 kills, and 12 digs. Hadley Helenbrook (Atlanta, Ga.) also recorded a double-double as she went for 13 putaways (.355 hitting percentage) and 14 digs while Stephanie Moreau (Methuen, Mass.) recorded a career-high 12 kills (.409).

Haley Weiner (Southington, Conn.) and Savannah Cambell (Soquel, Calif.) matched each other in assists for the second straight match, as they each dished out 22 in the match. Weiner tied a team-high with four service aces.

Defensively, Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) led the Gulls with 23 digs on the backline and added four assists and four service aces. At the front of the net, four Gulls had two or more blocks as Moreau led the way with five total blocks (one solo, four block assists). For the match, Endicott held WNE to a .056 hitting percentage.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • With today's win, the Gulls improve to 24-4 all-time against the Golden Bears.
  • Fourth consecutive double-double for Helenbrook.
  • Moreau's 12 kills are a career-high.
  • Endicott advances to the CCC Championship for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (15-13) plays Wentworth in the CCC Championship on Saturday at 12 PM in Boston. WNE (12-12) sees its season come to a close with the loss.
