Women’s Volleyball Turns Away Suffolk, 3-2

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's volleyball team defeated Suffolk, 3-2, by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 28-26, 19-25, and 15-8 in conference action on Saturday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Julia Giroux (Bedford, N.H.) and Hadley Helenbrook (Atlanta, Ga.) highlighted the Gulls with double-doubles (team-high 19 kills, 12 digs | 12 kills, 11 digs).

Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) added 12 kills on 19 swings (.526) and a team-high-tying five block assists alongside Francesca Batek (Rochester, N.Y.) at the net.

Savannah Cambell (Soquel, Calif.) and Haley Weiner (Southington, Conn.) shared duties facilitating the attack, totaling 27 (match-high) and 12 assists, respectively.

Today's match featured 36 ties (3-12-12-5-4) and 18 lead changes (2-8-6-2-0).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 7-0 all-time against Suffolk (first five-setter).
  • Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) led the Gulls in digs (14) and saw 12 of her team-high 32 reception attempts correlate in kills.
  • Giroux paced both sides in the fifth set with four kills.
  • Endicott raced out to a 7-4 advantage in the final stanza behind a pair of putaways from Helenbrook and Giroux, a solo kill from Schueler, and two errors by the Rams.
  • From there, the trio of Helenbrook (2 points, kill/ace), Giroux (2 kills, including final point), and Schueler (1 kill) helped the Gulls put the contest away for good.

Endicott (11-12, 6-1 CCC) visits Brandeis on Tuesday, October 31 at 6 PM. Suffolk (15-11, 4-2 CCC) travels to the University of New England on Wednesday, November 1 at 7 PM.
