Women’s Volleyball Holds Off Simmons, 3-1; Byram Nets 500th Coaching Victory

BOSTON, Mass. — The Endicott women's volleyball team defeated Simmons, 3-1, by scores of 25-21, 21-25, 26-24, and 25-21 on Tuesday night at the Holmes Sports Center.

Tonight's win marked Endicott head coach Tim Byram's 500th career victory in the NCAA Division III women's volleyball ranks.

As for the match, Julia Giroux (Bedford, N.H.) was dominant offensively with 19 kills on 39 swings (.333). She also added seven digs and one block assist to her stat line.

Megan Murphy (Danvers, Mass.) contributed eight putaways (.667), two service aces, and a pair of digs, while Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) had seven kills to highlight the rest of the attack.

Savannah Cambell (Sequel, Calif.) produced her first double-double (44 assists, 10 digs) in a Gulls' uniform and Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) collected 12 digs, rounding out Endicott's top performances on the night.

  • Bryam sports a 500-320 record (.610) among three stops as a women's volleyball head coach 
  • His career records as a women's volleyball head coach include a 447-302 mark as a Gull (.597, 2000 — present), a 33-6 record at Bates (.846, 1999-00), and a 20-12 showing at UMaine-Farmington (.625, 1992-93).
  • Bryam is the 29th winningest active coach in NCAA Division III women's volleyball
  • He also compiled a 214-164 (.566) record as Endicott men's volleyball head coach from 2001-12
  • Schueler registered her 500th career kill tonight
  • Endicott is 8-2 all-time against Simmons

Endicott (2-0) hosts Keene State on Friday, September 8 at 6 PM. Simmons (0-4) takes on Eastern Connecticut State (12 PM) and Bay Path (2 PM) this Saturday in Willimantic, Conn.
