Gilbert, Ruel and Sanborn Sweep Weekly CCC Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. - Following a 4-0 week for the Endicott women's volleyball team, a trio of Gulls swept the weekly Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honors, as was announced by the conference office earlier today. For their performances on the week, Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.)Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) and Kelsey Sanborn (Londonderry, N.H.) were named Player of the Week, Libero of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Gilbert earned her first Player of the Week honor of the 2022 season after leading the Gulls to the 4-0 week, which included the program's first win over an AVCA Top-10 team with the 3-1 win over No. 10 MIT. Endicott also claimed the MIT Invitational title for the first time in program history, after posting 3-1 wins over Bowdoin and MIT, and sweeping Keene St. Gilbert was named the MIT Invitational MVP, and to the All-Tournament Team. The graduate student finished with a robust 17-2-35 (.429) night offensively in the win over MIT, to go with 11 digs and three aces. She also logged 14 kills, 7 digs and 3 aces in the 3-1 win over Bowdoin. For the week, which also included a 3-1 win over Simmons, Gilbert averaged 3.43 k/s, .93 sa/s, 2.57 d/s and 4.4 pts/s while hitting .288.

Ruel also earned her first Libero of the Week honor in 2022. Like Gilbert, Ruel was named to the MIT Invitational All-Tournament Team. The sophomore set a career-high for digs in a four set match with 20 in the 3-1 win over Bowdoin, before following that with 12 digs and a career-high eight assists in the team's win over MIT. For the week, the libero averaged 3.57 digs/set, 1 assist/set and .43 aces/set. Ruel's serve receive played a major roll in the run to the MIT Invitational title as she di not make a single receive error in the three MIT Invitational matches.

For Sanborn, the Rookie of the Week nod was the first of her young career. The outside played a pivotal role in the 4-0 week, which included a career-high 11 kills in the win over MIT. For the week, Sanborn averaged 1.86 kills/set, 2.0 pts/set, and .64 digs/set.

The Gulls are back in action on the west coast this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Claremont-Mudd Scripps, Whittier and Cal Lutheran on Friday and Saturday.
