BEVERLY, Mass -
The Endicott women's tennis team earned their first win of the spring season on Thursday with a 5-4 triumph over Bentley at the Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly.

The Gulls swept all three doubles matches before victories at \#1 singles and \#5 singles gave the Blue and Green a fifth and deciding point.

Endicott kicked off their match against the Falcons with three straight wins in doubles including two tight contests at the top two spots.  The \#1 doubles duo of seniors Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) and Emily Annis (Hampton, N.H.) beat their Bentley opposition 8-5 while senior Laura MacLeod (Mashpee, Mass.) and freshman Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) squeeked out an 8-6 win at the \#2 doubles position.

Sophomore Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine) and freshman Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) wrapped up Endicott's sweep of doubles action with an 8-3 win at the three spot.

Cioffi continued her strong play with a straight-set 6-3, 6-0 win at \#1 singles, but Bentley was able to take four out of six singles matches.

Falcons senior Brittany Harbert (Boxford, Mass.), freshman Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn.), junior Katie Van Gilst (Harwington, Conn.) and  Stephania Adondakis (Sandy, Utah) all recorded wins for Bentley in singles play.

Endicott's Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.), however, delivered a 6-0, 6-1 win in \#5 singles to give the Gulls a 5-4 victory at home to improve to 15-2 overall in the 2011-12 season.

The Blue and Green will next be competing in the Wheaton Invitational on Sunday, March 25th in Norton, Massachusetts.
