Endicott Takes Down Crosstown Rival Gordon 2-0

WENHAM, Mass. – In a matchup between North Shore and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rivals, the Endicott women's soccer team knocked off Gordon 2-0 behind goals from Paige Pratt (Topsfield, Mass.) and Rachel Hanna (Chelmsford, Mass.).

With the win, Endicott finishes the regular season 12-3-2 overall, and 7-2 in CCC play while Gordon falls to 6-9-2 overall and 2-5-2 in CCC action. Both teams will now wait await the release of the seeding for the upcoming CCC Tournament which is set to begin on Saturday, October 29, with locations and times to be determined.

The Gulls thoroughly dominated the match, out-shooting the Scots 25-7 while holding a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal. Endicott keeper Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) would only have to make two saves for her sixth shutout of the season, and 12th win.

Pratt got the Gulls off to a great start as she buried her third goal of the season just 7:30 into the first half. The junior back now has eight points on the season, a new career high.

The Gulls would then see Hanna tie Sharlotte Pernice (West Springfield, Mass.) for the team lead in goals with her eighth of the season in the 49th minute to cap all scoring. Hanna's goal came off an assist from freshman Larissa Cade (Middletown, Conn.) who now has a team-leading seven assists on the campaign.

BEYOND THE BOX

  • Pratt's goal, just seven minutes and thirty seconds into play was the fastest goal the Gulls have scored all season.
  • Hanna now has eight goals on the season through 13 matches played, after posting three in her first two seasons in which she played in 26 matches.
  • Cade's seventh assist of the season gives her 15 points (4 goals, 7 assists), which is good for third on the roster. The freshman is averaging a point a start (15/15) in her first collegiate campaign.
  • Armbruster's 12th win of the season ties her with Amy Meuse '10 and current assistant coach Tina Loguidice '07 for 10th place in the single season win records for Endicott women's soccer.

FOR THE FOES

  • Gordon keeper Kali Denty (Marshfield, Mass.) was impressive in defeat, making 11 saves in the loss. Her 11 saves tied for the third highest save total of the season for the freshman.
  • Lexi Potter (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) and Tori Caswell (Uxbridge, Mass.) tied for the team lead in shots with two each, while both posted a shot on goal.

WHAT'S NEXT

Both teams have finished regular season competition and now await the release of the CCC Women's Soccer Tournament pairings. Endicott, 12-3-2 (7-2-0 CCC) will hope to host a first round contest while Gordon, 6-9-2 (2-5-2), will most likely be on the road. Each round of the women's quarterfinals will be hosted by the highest seed in the matchup. The quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, October 29, the semifinals on Tuesday, November 1, and the finals, on Saturday, November 5.
