Women's Soccer Drops Tough 2-0 Decision To UNE On The Road

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Endicott women's soccer team traveled north for their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener against the University of New England (UNE) on Saturday and came up short, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Nor'Easters.

After giving up a goal in the 15th minute, the Endicott offense never could counter while the hosts would add an insurance tally in the 52nd minute to clinch the victory. Endicott registered eight shots total in the match, two of which were on goal while UNE posted 12 shots, seven of which were on goal.

For the Gulls, Laura Wysocki (Somers, Conn.) led the attack, registering two shots, one of which was on goal, while fellow senior Madison McKinley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also recorded two shots, with one being the only other attempt on goal.

In net, Kristin Hartlage (Niskayuna, N.Y.)  got the start and turned away five of the seven shots on goal she encountered. Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) would enter in the 69th minute and was not called on to make any saves during her time.

BEYOND THE BOX

  • The loss now makes Endicott 13-10-1 against UNE all-time, dating back to their first meeting back in 1994.
  • The Gulls have now dropped two straight to the Nor'Easters, having lost in September of 2014 by a score of 2-1 after having won two straight by a combined score of 10-1.
  • The loss was the first for Endicott in Biddeford, Maine since October 22, 2011, when Endicott dropped a 1-0 decision to UNE.

FOR THE FOES

  • Jackie Dickerson (Windham, N.H.) scored first for the Nor'Easters as she chipped in a shot from 35 yards out that bounced over the Endicott keeper and into the net at the 15:12 mark. It is the second straight year Dickerson has scored quickly against the Gulls as she did so at the 14:39 mark in the team's 2-1 win last season.
  • Taylor Usko (Sunapee, N.H.) scored the second goal of the match on a cross from Maria Philbrick (Scarborough, Maine) to notch her second tally of the season.
