Peters Adds ECAC Player of the Year Award to Honors

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Endicott defender Caitlin Peters (Salem, N.H.) continues to garner honors after her senior season, as Thursday she was named Division III New England Defensive Player of the Year and a regional All Star by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Peters was named an ECAC All Star for the third year, after also being selected in her freshman and junior seasons. She is one of only fourteen student-athletes in New England recognized on this list, which includes five defenders, four midfielders, four forwards and one goalkeeper.

For Endicott, this is the first ECAC Player of the Year award collected by the women's soccer program.

Peters has already been named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She was the top vote-getter among all defenders to play in the New England Woman's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, and was most recently named National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) All-Region First Team. Peters is also a stand-out student, and was picked for the First Team of the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District program.

The central defender and two-year co-captain of the Gulls anchored a back-line that posted twelve shutouts in 2012, while also scoring the first two goals of her career, both of them game-winners. She led a defense that allowed only twelve goals against all season, only three of them in conference play.

Peters is joined by Salve Regina's Kaitlyn Birrell as the only two players to represent the CCC on the ECAC's all star list.
