Endicott Rolls to 4-0 Win over Bison

Oct. 13, 2007

BEVERLY, MA - Four different players found the back of the net for Endicott as the women's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 win over Nichols College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

On paper it looked like an offensive showdown was in store as the number one and two point-scorers in the conference met at Endicott Stadium. Entering the game Nichols' Kaila Gray (Pembroke, MA/Pembroke Academy) and Endicott's Cailtin Flynn (Southold, NY/Mattituck) were separated by just .05 in points per game but it would be Flynn and the Gulls who spread their offensive wings.

Defense and midfield that ruled the first half as the Bison's defense was well-organized from the start, limiting Endicott 13 shots. The Gulls answer was their midfield play, as senior Margreta Weber (Bedford, NH/Manchester West) helped control the pace of the game.

The second half would be a different story. Right out of the blocks, the Blue and Green showed themselves to be much more organized than in the first half. Nichols' defense wasn't ready for the change of pace as EC really began to test Bison goalkeeper Nicole Johnson (Westhampton, MA/Hampshire Regional).

The Gulls broke the scoreless tie in the 64th minute when sophomore Kayla Corbett (Danvers, MA/Danvers) found forward Ashley Clark (East Kingston, NH/Pentucket Regional) whose shot just made it past a sprawling Johnson and into the net.

Endicott quickly put in two more goals, scoring twice more in a matter of four minutes. Scoring for the Gulls was senior Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) and Caitlyn Flynn (Southold, NY/Mattituck). Corbett would later find the back of the net on a strike from 20 yards out with just 10 minutes remaining to seal the 4-0 victory.

Nichols College drops to 8-7-0 and 5-6-0 in TCCC play with the loss and looks to rebound Tuesday, October 16th when they host Worcester State College at 4:00 p.m.

The win moves Endicott to 10-4-0 and 9-1-0 in conference play. The Gulls hope to continue their win streak when they play host to Salem State, Tuesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m.
