Curry Tops No. 13 Women’s Ice Hockey In CCC Semifinals, 1-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 13 Endicott women's ice hockey team fell to Curry College, 1-0, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Hannah Berkowitz (Mattawan, Mich.) scored the game-winner on a second-chance opportunity from the left face-off dot high glove side just 45 seconds into the second period.

Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) pitched her second straight shutout in the playoffs with a 50-save effort on the afternoon, tying her season-high which also came against Endicott this season (2/17/22, 2-2 tie). 

She made 14 saves in the first, 15 more in the middle stanza, and 21 in the final frame for the visitors.

On the other end, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) turned away 24 shots in the setback (16-5-2). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Curry will compete in its first-ever CCC Championship next Saturday.
  • Archambeault's career-high for saves is 66.
  • The Colonels are 5-5-4 on the road this season.
  • Endicott fended off a pair of Curry power plays in the first period (Moritz three saves, four blocked shots).
  • Both teams combined for 0-for-7 on the power play.
  • Endicott dominated the third period outshooting Curry 21-5 in the frame; the Colonels were backed into their defensive end for the majority of the period even withstanding 2:02 straight of time on ice in their zone at one point (11:10-9:08).

WHAT'S NEXT

First-seeded Endicott (18-5-3) awaits a potential at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The selection show takes place on Sunday, March 3 at 8:30 PM on NCAA.com. 

Fifth-seeded Curry (11-11-5) will play the winner of third-seeded UNE/second-seeded Western New England in the CCC Championship on Saturday, March 2. The game will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
