No. 11 Women's Ice Hockey Handles Suffolk, 4-1

EAST BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 11 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team knocked off Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Suffolk University by a 4-1 score on Saturday evening at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

Quin Healy (Melrose, Mass.) capitalized on an early power play opportunity for the Gulls, scoring at the 11:07 mark of the first period. Moments later, Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) potted her 11th tally of the season to give the Gulls a 2-0 lead in the opening period.

After a late Suffolk first period goal cut Endicott's lead in half, Healy found the net once more, handing the Gulls a 3-1 lead in the second. 

Endicott put the nail in the coffin in the third, as Rivers Morris (Braintree, Mass.) notched a goal at the 8:21 mark, locking down the 4-1 win for the Blue and Green.

In net, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) turned away 21 of 22 Suffolk shots in the contest and improved to 15-4-2 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • With today's win, the Gulls improve to 11-2 in the all-time series versus the Rams.
  • No. 11 Endicott outshot Suffolk 34-22 in the matchup.
  • Morris recorded a game-high two assists in the contest, while Sami Barletta (Walpole, Mass.), Mackenzie Graham (Billerica, Mass.), Hall, and Healy each dished out one.
  • In the last two games, Moritz has saved 42 out of 44 shots (.955).

No. 11 Endicott (17-4-2, 14-2-0 CCC) welcomes Nichols College on Friday, February 16 for a 7:00 PM puck drop. Suffolk (8-15-1, 7-9-1 CCC) hosts Curry Friday in a 6:00 PM contest.
