No. 12 Women's Ice Hockey Tops Curry, 4-2

CANTON, Mass. — The No. 12 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Curry College by a score of 4-2 on Friday night at Canton Ice House, kicking off a home-and-away Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) series against the Colonels this weekend.

After falling behind 1-0 early in the contest, the Gulls found the equalizer via a power play goal from Samantha Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.) with just about 50 seconds remaining in the first period.

After the Colonels regained the lead with an early tally in the second period, Fantasia stepped up once again at the 9:40 mark and knotted the game at two apiece.

Four minutes later, the Gulls took their first lead of the game, as Maggie Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) capitalized on a power play opportunity.

The Gulls found some third period insurance in the form of reigning CCC Player of the Week Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.), as she broke loose for the Blue and Green's fourth score of the night.

In net, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) improved to 12-4-2 with a 25-save effort.

  • With the win, Endicott improves to 8-0 all-time against Curry.

No. 12 Endicott (13-4-2, 10-2-0 CCC) welcomes Curry (7-8-2, 4-6-2) to Raymond J. Bourque Ice Arena for a 3:00 PM puck drop tomorrow, January 27.
