No. 14 Women’s Ice Hockey Holds Off UNE, 4-2

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 14 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated the University of New England (UNE), 4-2, in conference action on Saturday evening at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Tied 2-2 late in the third period, Jess Burwell (Hooksett, N.H.) blasted a slap shot from the left point to push the Gulls ahead with under five minutes to play (PP, 15:47).

Burwell's first career game-winner came 55-seconds after the Nor'easters evened the contest.

Aurora Devereaux (Scituate, Mass.) added an empty net tally at the 19:41 mark of the third, while Lily Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.) and Rivers Morris (Braintree, Mass.) both notched goals in the first (3:21, 10:01) to round out the scoring for Endicott.

In goal, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) stopped 21 shots to improve to 9-4-2 overall.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 14-3-0 in the all-time series (winners of four straight).
  • The Gulls are 5-1-1 at home this season.
  • Morris pushed her goal-scoring streak to four straight games (five tallies total).
  • Burwell netted her first goal of the season (fourth career).
