No. 15 Women's Ice Hockey Turns Away Wesleyan (Conn.), 2-1

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The No. 15 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Wesleyan (Conn.), 2-1, in non-conference action on Saturday night at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.

After a scoreless first period, Samantha Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.) got the scoring started off feeds from Maddie DiNardo (Topsfield, Mass.) and Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) at the 13:25 mark of the second period.

Fantasia's game-winner came from a Jenna Seibold (Reading, Mass.) pass to put the Gulls up 2-0 just over 30 seconds before the second period intermission.

In the third, the Cardinals were able to get on the board just over halfway through the period (10:34) to cut the deficit in half.

The defense for Endicott was able to stop a late surge by Wesleyan late in the period to secure the victory.

In goal, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas.) made 20 saves to improve her record to 6-4 this season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 4-0-2 all-time against Wesleyan.
  • Second career-multi goal game for Fantasia.
  • First point of DiNardo's career.
  • Emmerson Hayes (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Gulls with 11 faceoff victories.
