Women's Ice Hockey Shuts Out No. 10 Norwich, 1-0

NORTHFIELD, Vt. — The Endicott women's ice hockey team blanked No. 10 nationally ranked Norwich, 1-0, in non-conference action on Friday night at Kreitzberg Arena.

Freshman Maggie Lynch (Quincy, Mass) scored her first career goal off a breakaway after being sprung free by a feed from Rivers Morris (Braintree, Mass.) at the 15:14 mark of the first period.

From there, Endicott's defense continued to put the clamps on the Cadets all night, resulting in the 1-0 shutout. 

The Gulls blocked a game-high 14 shots in the contest, with Payton Hansen (Spring City, Pa.) leading all skaters with three.

Meanwhile, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) shined in her first collegiate game as the sophomore goalie stopped 26 shots.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott claimed its first win against Norwich in the all-time series (1-3-1).
  • The Gulls notched their second victory over nationally ranked opponent in program history.
  • Previously defeated No. 1 Plattsburgh State, 4-3, in overtime on 11/27/21.
  • Emmerson Hayes (Los Angeles, Calif.) won a team-high nine faceoffs (9-for-11).
  • Endicott is receiving votes (6) in the USCHO Preseason Poll.
  • The Gulls are 8-0-1 in season openers.
