BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team took down Hartford, 89-61, on Saturday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led all scorers with 21 points (8-13 FG, 4-4 FT) along with six boards and five dimes.
Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she scored 18 points (8-10 FG, 2-3 FT) and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) added 16 points, while Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.) was a fourth started with double-digit points as she went for 13 points.
The Gulls seized all momentum from the opening tip and never looked back.
The Blue and Green led 25-7 at the end of the final stanza thanks to a 17-5 scoring run (10:00-3:25). The surge was ignited by Dempsey (6), Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus, Mass.) (4), Shinney (3), Fleming (2), and Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) (2).
From there, Endicott notched a 12-0 stretch in the second frame (8:22-4:55) that fueled Endicott's second-largest halftime lead this season (47-20).
Endicott would not relinquish the double-digit lead in the second half in a wire-to-wire victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Second-ever meeting between the two teams as Endicott is 2-0 all-time against the Hawks.
- The 89 points by Endicott was their fifth-highest point total this season.
- The hosts outscored the visitors, 38-26 in the painted area.
- Endicott finished with 22 points in transition compared to Hartford's zero.
