UNE Tops Women’s Basketball, 86-64

BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Endicott women's basketball team fell to the University of New England (UNE), 86-64, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday night at the Harold Alfond Forum.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led the Gulls with 19 points, three rebounds, and two steals in 36 minutes of action. 

Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) supplied 12 points and three boards, while Katelyn Konareski (Milford, Conn.) chipped in with nine points and snagged four rebounds in the setback.

The Nor'Easters generated a 7-2 run over the final 2:39 of the opening quarter to build up a 24-15 lead heading to the second.

At the half, UNE extended its advantage to 45-22 after it outscored Endicott 21-7 in the second quarter. 

Endicott produced a 13-3 stretch late in the fourth quarter, but the hosts did not relinquish the double-digit lead and captured their first conference victory in 2023-24. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Nor'Easters hold the edge in the all-time series, 34-18. 
  • The Gulls forced 12 UNE turnovers and scored 13 points off of those miscues.
  • The Blue and Green edged the Nor'Easters in the lane, 32-30.

Endicott (1-4, 0-1 CCC) welcomes Wentworth on Saturday, December 2 at 1:00 PM. University of New England (5-2, 1-0 CCC) travels to Western New England this Saturday at 1:00 PM.
