Laugeni Headlines CCC All-Conference Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. — Three members of the Endicott women's basketball team have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason honors, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) highlighted the group by claiming CCC Scholar-Athlete honors and All-CCC Second Team accolades (first team in 2021-22).

Laugeni is now the second student-athlete in program history to receive CCC Scholar-Athlete honors joining Ashley Wright '11 (Merrimack, N.H.) on the list.

Meanwhile, Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) and Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) were both named to the All-CCC Third Team.


TARA LAUGENI | SR. | WOODBRIDGE, CONN.

Laugeni currently sports a 3.90 cumulative grade point average as a business management and marketing double major (minor in business analytics).

Her academic awards include multiple Dean's List citations, two CCC Academic All-Conference honors, and membership into Endicott's Sigma Beta Delta Chapter.

Laugeni also is involved in EC L.E.A.D. and the Women In Leadership Organization at the College.

Outside of the classroom, Laugeni has completed internships with Raytheon Technologies (corporate supply chain/logistics), Marcum LLP (marketing), and Merry Mountain Farm (management).

Her internship at Raytheon included the following experiences: supported network optimization efforts through data refinement; presented alongside the logistics team at the annual Strategic Sourcing Review on ongoing industry risks and mitigation tactics; developed process management mapping in support of supplier diversity efforts; and analyzed, calculated and projected data to holistically assess transportation management practices to improve shipment logistics.

Laugeni will continue her academic studies at Endicott next year in the fifth-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

On the hardwood this season, Laugeni averaged 13.6 points per game (37.9 FG%, 20.0 3PT%, 56.4 FT%), 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 28 games played (20 starts, 28.9 minutes).

She tied for the team-high in double-doubles with five total, registered double-digit points in 22 games, and scored 20 or more points in four contests.

Laugeni also led the team in scoring 11 times.

Her CCC ranks included the following categories/numbers: points (381, 9th), points per game (11th), points per 40 minutes (18.8, 10th), field goals made (158, 5th), field goal percentage (16th), free throws made (62, 15th), free throw percentage (18th), offensive rebounds (60, 11th), defensive rebounds (126, 11th), total rebounds (186, 9th), rebounds per game (12th), assists (45, 30th), steals (52, 6th), and blocks (24, 7th).

Laugeni currently ranks 15th all-time in program history with 946 career points (84 games).


SARAH DEMPSEY | SO. | WINDHAM, N.H.

In 28 games played (19 starts), Dempsey averaged 13.8 points per game (44.0 FG%, 33.3 3PT%, 75.4 FT%), 7.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.6 blocks in 29.6 minutes per contest.

She compiled five double-doubles on the season, paced the team in scoring 11 times, and notched 20 or more points in five games (21 games with 10+ points).

Dempsey's CCC ranks included the following categories/numbers: points (386, 7th), points per game (10th), points per 40 minutes (18.6, 12th), field goals made (142, 9th), field goal percentage (10th), free throws made (101, 3rd), free throw percentage (9th), offensive rebounds (72n, 5th), defensive rebounds 148, 5th), total rebounds (220, 3rd), rebounds per game (7th), assists (41, 36th), steals (34, 31st), and blocks (44, 3rd).

This is Dempsey's second career All-CCC selection (first team, 2021-22) and third career conference honor (rookie of the year, 2021-22).


EMILY ST. THOMAS | SR. | STERLING, MASS.

St. Thomas averaged 10.9 points per game (35.1 FG%, 25.0 3PT%, 76.6 FT%), 4.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals in 35.0 minutes per contest.

She registered three double-doubles, guided the team in scoring five times, and tallied 10 or more points, five rebounds, and five assists in three contests.

St. Thomas' 2022-23 campaign also featured career-highs for points (21 vs. Gordon, 1/28/23), assists (10 vs. Coast Guard, 11/12/22), and rebounds (10 vs. Emerson and Suffolk).

Her CCC ranks included the following categories/numbers: points (304, 16th), points per game (18th), points per 40 minutes (12.4, 38th), field goals made (111, 15th), field goal percentage (27th), three-point field goals made (23, 22nd), free throws made (59, 17th), free throw percentage (7th), defensive rebounds (110, 16th), total rebounds (138, 21st), rebounds per game (26th), assists (96, 2nd), steals (47, 12th), and blocks (12, 24th).

This is St. Thomas' first career CCC postseason award.


YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott (13-15, 9-9 CCC) advanced to the CCC Championship for the fourth straight season, eventually falling to first-seeded Roger Williams, 61-51, on the road.

The sixth-seeded Gulls were the lowest-ever seed to advance to the league title game in CCC Women's Basketball Championship history.
