Softball Splits Doubleheader At Roger Williams, 7-0 and 1-2

BRISTOL, R.I. — The Endicott softball team split its doubleheader at Roger Williams, 7-0 and 1-2, in Saturday afternoon's Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup to conclude the 2024 regular season.

GAME ONE: Endicott 7, Roger Williams 0

WP (10-5): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
LP (8-7): Raegan Germano (Old Tappan, N.J.) — 6.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

The Gulls jumped on top of the Hawks in the first inning thanks to a two run single to right field from Mia Mitchell (Medford, Mass.)

The score held at 2-0 until the fifth, when Elyse Saccoccio (Coventry, R.I.) provided some insurance with an RBI single to left and Christina Nowicki (Chelsea, Mass.) brought home a run with a sac fly.

In the seventh, the Gulls padded their lead even more with a Saccoccio RBI double to right, another Nowicki sac fly, and a Hadley Marchand (Andover, Conn.) RBI single into left to make it a 7-0 lead.

In the circle, Couto silenced the Hawks bats as she spun her seventh complete game of the season. She limited the Hawks to just two hits, and retired a string of 14 consecutive batters between the second and seventh innings.

GAME TWO: Endicott 1, Roger Williams 2

WP (5-1): Keira Quadros (East Providence, R.I.) — 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
LP (8-5): Kristen Beebe (Brentwood, N.H.) — 5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Game two saw a pitching duel ensue from both sides. The first two runs belonged to Roger Williams, as the Hawks broke through against Beebe for a run in the third and a run in the sixth.

Trailing 2-0 in the seventh, Ella Tower (Windham, N.H.) closed the gap for the Gulls with an RBI single up the middle, cutting the Hawks lead in half. However, the Blue and Green were unable to inflict any further damage, with the contest ending in a 2-1 score.

Beebe managed to hold the Hawks to just two earned runs in the outing, and was replaced by Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) in the bottom of the sixth. Grady recorded the final two outs of the frame, one by way of the K.
