NCAA TOURNAMENT: No. 4 Salisbury Edges Endicott, 2-1

SALISBURY, Md. — The Endicott softball team fell to No. 4 nationally ranked Salisbury, 2-1, in NCAA Tournament action on Saturday evening at Sea Gull Softball Stadium.

WP (16-1): Lindsey Winsdor (Union Bridge, Md.) — 7 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
LP (17-5): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K

Salisbury walked it off in the seventh on a bases loaded single to left center with no outs.

Meanwhile, Endicott scored its lone run in the fifth via small ball.

Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) jumpstarted the Gulls with a leadoff bunt single to the pitcher.

A sac bunt and fly out to right field advanced DaSilva two bases before she scampered home on a fielding error to even up the score.

Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) was dealt the hard-luck no decision on five innings pitched, five hits, one run (earned), three free passes, and three strikeouts.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Sea Gulls are 26-0 at home this season.
  • This was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Endicott's 10-game winning streak and perfect record in May (8-1) were both snapped today.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (31-12) will take on Penn State Berks tomorrow at 10 AM.

The winner of that contest will then have to defeat No. 4 Salisbury (38-6) twice in order to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals. The Sea Gulls only need one victory to extend their postseason schedule.

Game two of the day is scheduled for 12:30 PM, while the if necessary game is slated for 3 PM.
