Ashley Wright and Hayley Hovhanessian named Capital One Academic All-District
Senior outfielders Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) and Hayley Hovhanessian (Farmington, Conn.) have both been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Softball Teams for their excellence in the classroom and on the field as significant contributors to the Endicott softball program. 

Wright, who was awarded First Team honors, is now eligible for to be named an Academic All-American when it is announced on May 26th.  A Criminal Justice major, Wright sports a 3.77 GPA and has been recognized for her academic achievements by the Endicott Academic Varsity Club, the Criminal Justice academic honor society Phi Alpha Sigma, the Mortar Board Honor Society and the Endicott Dean's List. 

On the field, Wright has a .434 batting average with 42 runs scored, 33 RBI, 21 walks and a team-high 14 stolen bases.  She is tied for the team lead in doubles (15).  Wright's stellar play at the plate and defensively in centerfield as earned her All-TCCC First Team accolades.

Wright was also named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District First Team during the women's basketball season. 

Hovhanessian, a Capital One Academic All-District Second Team honoree, is a Psychology major with a 3.70 GPA with recognition from the Endicott Academic Varsity Club, Psi Chi National Honor Society for Psychology, and Phi Alpha Sigma, the Criminal Justice academic honor society.  Hovhanessian was named to the All-TCCC Honorable Mention squad and currently has a .381 batting average with 38 runs, 30 RBI and seven stolen bases.  She has started in all 40 games this season.   

Wright and Hovhanessian will lead the Gulls into the final day of competition in the TCCC Championship Tournament.  The Blue and Green still have not suffered a loss and if they record a win on Saturday, May 7th against the winner of the \#4 University of New England and \#2 Western New England game, Endicott will have won their ninth straight conference title.  The Gulls are scheduled to play the winner of that game at noon tomorrow.
