Men’s Volleyball Blanks Emerson, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team defeated Emerson, 3-0, on Tuesday night by scores of 25-9, 25-22, and 25-22 at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Ten student-athletes notched at least one kill in the match as the Gulls featured a different lineup in each set.

Corey Klass Jr. (Beverly, Mass.) highlighted the squad with a career-high nine kills (9K-2E-14TA, .500).

Luke Madson (Nazareth, Pa.) produced a 6K-1E-9TA (.556) line in his collegiate debut, while Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) finished with the team's third-highest total of seven putways (2 sets).

Matty Tiernan (Hopkinton, R.I.) paced Endicott's three setters on the night with a career-high 15 assists.

Tonight's match featured 19 ties (1-10-8) and nine lead changes (1-5-3).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 8-1 all-time against Emerson.
  • The Gulls have swept the opposition in three straight matches.
  • Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) finished with a match-high eight digs, all coming in the third set.
  • Four of his eight digs correlated in kills.
  • Alexei Kraytman (Waltham, Mass.) contributed four kills and a perfect 9-for-9 showing on serve receive in his first collegiate match.
  • Aaron Bennett (Haverhill, Mass.) made his collegiate debut.
  • The Gulls' starters posted a .529 hitting percentage in set one (12K-3E-17TA).
  • Laborde held service for nine straight attempts in set one (6-3 lead to 13-4 advantage).

Endicott (4-2) plays Lasell in the Hall of Fame Invitational, hosted by Springfield College, on Friday, February 2 at 8 PM. Emerson (1-1) hosts Nichols on Tuesday, February 6 at 7 PM.
