Men’s Volleyball Splits Sunday Matinee

BOSTON, Mass. — The Endicott men's volleyball team split a pair of matches against No. 13 New Paltz (L, 3-1) and Emmanuel (W, 3-0) on Sunday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center.


MATCH ONE: No. 13 New Paltz 3, Endicott 1 (22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 22-25)

Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) and Dean Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.) combined for 34 kills to highlight the Gulls.

Laborde produced a career-high 18 putaways on 30 swings (.433), while Warner tied his career-high for kills with 16 total (.226).

Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) also chipped in with nine kills.

Gavin Emenaker (Newton, Mass.) ran the offense behind 41 assists (.488), while Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) compiled a career-best 11 digs to round out the list of individual highlights.

The match featured 22 ties (7-9-2-4) and eight lead changes (3-5-0-0).


MATCH TWO: Endicott 3, Emmanuel 0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-23)

The duo of Laborde and Warner led the way once again for the Gulls in the nightcap.

Warner collected a team-high 13 kills on 28 swings (.286) and three block assists.

Laborde filled the stat sheet with 12 putaways, two service aces, six digs, and one block assist.

Logan Pohl (Longmeadow, Mass.) also was efficient from the middle via a 4K-1E-5TA line, six digs, and a team-best four block assists.

Emenaker facilities the attack behind 30 assists (.455) alongside a team-high-tying six digs.

The match featured 12 ties (6-3-3) and only five lead changes (4-1-0).


BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Laborde registered a line of 7K-0E-10TA in set one against New Paltz (set-high kills for EC).
  • For his efforts this weekend, Laborde was named to the Fenway Classic All-Tournament Team.
  • Emenaker notched his second 40+ assist performance of the season versus New Paltz.
  • The Gulls are 20-8 all-time against Emmanuel.
