No. 1 Wentworth Bests Men’s Volleyball, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team fell to No. 1 nationally ranked Wentworth, 3-0, by scores 16-25, 19-25, and 20-25 on Saturday afternoon at Tansey Gymnasium.

Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) paced the Gulls with nine kills, three digs, and one block assist.

Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) also added eight putaways on 14 swings (.286), while Gavin Emenaker (Newton, Mass.) ran the offense via 20 assists in the setback.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Despite the loss, the Gulls still hold the advantage in the all-time series, 24-13.
  • Today's match marked the first time Wentworth has been nationally ranked No. 1 overall in the series, based on available data.
  • The contest featured 16 ties (7-3-6) and six lead changes (4-2-0).
  • Vance Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) went 17-for-18 on serve receive (.944, 6 led to kills).
  • Wentworth produced a season-high .424 hitting percentage (38-10-66).

Endicott (1-1) takes on Baruch later today at 3 PM on the campus of Emmanuel College. No. 1 Wentworth (3-0) hosts No. 13 New Paltz this afternoon at 3 PM.
