Men’s Tennis Handles Western New England, 8-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Western New England (WNE), 8-1, in conference action at the Blunk Park Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gulls swept all three doubles and carried that momentum into singles play.

No. 2 Spencer Smith (Albany, N.Y.) / Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) submitted an 8-3 win, while Matt Mittleman (Loudonville, N.Y) / Patrick Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) produced an 8-4 victory at No. 3.

Meanwhile, the Gulls top pairing of Hudson De Risi (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) / Oliver Pope (South Dartmouth, Mass.) turned in a hard-fought 8-7 (7-4) win.

In singles, Pope (No. 4, 6-0, 6-2), Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) (No. 2, 6-1, 6-1), George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) (No. 3, 6-0, 6-3), James Zeolie (Amherst, N.H.) (No. 6, 6-3, 6-3), Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) (No. 1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 11-9) all collected triumphs this afternoon.

"We did well today, and kept a solid level after a long car ride", said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "There are a few things we can clean up, but the boys are putting a lot of positive days together."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Zeolie earned his first singles win of the season.
  • Mittleman / Johnson tallied their first victory as a doubles pairing.
