Men's Soccer Garners Three United Soccer Coaches All-Region Selections

ALL-REGION TEAMS

BEVERLY, Mass. — Three members of the Endicott men's soccer team have received 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors.

Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, Conn.) earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region II Second Team accolades, while Joe Akisik (Sudbury, Mass.) and Conor Rooney (Monroe, Conn.) each were both named to the All-Region II Third Team, respectively.

The three honorees tie last season's total for the second-most in program history.

SECOND TEAM ALL-REGION

TIAGO FRAZAO | SR. | F | TRUMBULL, CONN.

For the second consecutive season, Frazao received all-region honors, as he was also named to the 2022 Second Team. The senior captain posted career-high marks of nine goals, 23 points, 26 shots on goal, and 19 games played (all starts) in 2023. His nine goals placed him in a tie for fourth most in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), while his five assists ranked third. His offense was on full display in an eight-game stretch between September 24 to October 18, when he tallied eight goals and three assists in just that span. In addition to his impressive on-the-field stats, he was also named the second CCC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honoree in Endicott men's soccer program history.

THIRD TEAM ALL-REGION

JOE AKISIK | SR. | B | SUDBURY, MASS.

This is the first time Akisik has claimed all-region honors in his career. The senior started all 19 games for the Gulls from the back line, and was consistently a brick wall for one of the CCC's top defenses. His contributions were on full display when the Gulls notched six shutouts, including three in conference play. He dished out his first and only assist of the season against Suffolk on September 23.

CONOR ROONEY | SO. | F | MONROE, CONN.

This season marks the first career all-region selection for Rooney. The sophomore tallied four goals and four assists for 12 points, and appeared in all 19 games for the Gulls this season. His four goals ranked him tied for second on the team this season, and his four assists placed him tied for fifth in the CCC. He scored the game-winner and recorded his first career multi-goal game against the University of New England (UNE) on October 24, the final game of the regular season for the Blue and Green.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott posted an 8-7-4 overall record and 4-3-1 in league play.

The Gulls earned the No. 5 seed in the CCC Tournament but ultimately fell to No. 4 Suffolk, 1-0, in the CCC Quarterfinals.

The Blue and Green also were 6-1-2 at The Nest this fall.
