CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: No. 17/19 Endicott Upends Western New England, 17-6

BEVERLY, Mass. — The number one overall seed and nationally ranked No. 17/19 Endicott men's lacrosse team defeated second-seeded Western New England, 15-6, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) and Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) led the way for the Gulls with four goals a piece. Favreau added an assist while Tyksinki had two assists as well. 

Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.) scored twice with an assist, while Ethan Cupples (Marshfield, Mass.)Jack Fiorillo (Mineola, N.Y.)Colt Green (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.)Aidan Kellachan (Westhampton, N.Y.), and Manny Marshall (Chelmsford, Mass.) all added solo tallies.

In goal, Tim Luciano (Westport, Conn.) made eight saves in the victory as his record improved to 16-1 this season. The Endicott defense as a whole held the CCC Offensive Player of the Year, Dylan Hanley to just one goal and three assists to go with four turnovers.

Endicott raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to Favreau, Tyksinski, and Paglusio goals before the Golden Bears added one in the final 30 seconds as the Gulls took a 3-1 lead going to the second. Another 3-0 scoring run for Endicott with tallies from Favreau, Green, and Cupples gave Endicott a 6-1 lead with 6:58 to play before halftime. Another Western New England goal made it 6-2, but the Gulls responded with Pagluiso and Tyksinski goals to take an 8-2 going to halftime.

The Gulls continued to push the pace in the second half, scoring four unanswered to start and take a commanding 12-2 lead. Another Golden Bear tally was met with Fiorillo's goal to give the Gulls a 13-3 lead headed to the fourth quarter. Western New England outscored the Gulls 3-2 over the final 15 minutes, but Endicott would secure the CCC championship, 17-6. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott captured its 11th CCC Championship (2001, 2004-07, 2010-11, 2015, 2017, 2021).
  • The Gulls defense held Western New England to a season-low in goals.
  • With his assist today, Pagluiso moves into third place in program history for assists with 132. 
  • Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.) went 16-25 at the faceoff X and added 11 ground balls.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 17/19 Endicott (16-1) has secured the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The field will be announced on Sunday, May 5 at 9 PM on NCAA.com. Western New England sees its season come to a close with an 11-7 record.
